It's my opinion that a life spent only consuming and not creating is a wasted life.
In keeping with that philosophy, I spend a lot of my time creating various things,
among them small, free video games (using a program called Game Maker [see my links
page]), music (both programmatic and more traditional), writings (stories, long
and short, and poetry), and visual art. Below are links to a few of those things.
Video Games:
| Desperation | A surrealistic adventure game with a moral in a retro (i.e. very pixellated) style. The first game I ever made. May 2006. | |
| Crossfire | A scrolling shooter that is best enjoyed with two players. Not really complete. July 2006 (revisited July 2007). | |
| Alienvasion | An arcade game in which you protect a city from brain-eating aliens. Available in stylish green-and-black or color. August 2006. | |
| The Wasteland | An exploration game where you must solve puzzles and repair a crashed ship. The closest I have come to making a full-length game. Still not all that long. October 2006. | |
| Dogfighter | Fight the same boss over and over again until you die! But it keeps getting harder though. Not a very great game. November 2006. | |
| Noctus | Another game with vaguely philosophical undertones, where you must guide a ship through a barren land and maybe figure out why it's so barren there. In noir-style colorlessness. December 2006. | |
| Colony | An old (very incomplete) attempt at an action-exploration game, something like a mix between Metroid and Lunar Lander. Weird. Sometime in 2006. | |
| Nevada Thompson | A messy retro-style maze game, something of a spoof of Indiana Jones. Made in four hours. November 2007. | |
| Radian | A rather abstract turret shooter with rather strategic gameplay. Of all my games, probably the only one that can be described as critically acclaimed. October 2007. |
Music:
| The Postmodern Symphony | An old composition (or rather, series of compositions) done entirely with a keyboard and a copy of Cool Edit Pro. For the most part, not really music, per se. Late 2005. | |
| Songs For Video Games | Programmed compositions intended for use in video games. Some are from my games, others stand on their own. 2006-2007. |
Visual Art:
| A Pixel Art Gallery | Includes pointless pixel drawings as well as game-related art from 2006 and 2007. |
Works in Progress:
| Mekanos | My first attempt at a full-length video-game. It's a Metroidvania-style adventure game. Click for information on the graphics, the music, the gameplay, and more. |
